Included in each assignment are a variety of tasks that reinforce vocabulary and comprehension as well as such skills as recognizing figurative language (similes, idioms, onomatopoeia, alliteration, puns, and personification), summarizing, explaining, describing, point-of-view, theme, plot, and comparing & contrasting. The workbook divides the 292 pg text into six reading assignments of 45-50 pages each. Except for the cover, the booklet appears mainly in black and white taking into account tight school budgets and the higher cost of printing in color.
